It can be less costly to utilize focus groups and internet panels. However, we don't believe that these are better venues for name validation.

The Target Market
Doctors cost significantly more than general consumers. They generally require financial “incentives.” Business to Business calls cost more than general consumers, but less than physicians.

Location
Distant farmers often have no telephone and must be farmed out to the local research firms (pardon the pun).

Incidence rate
Cola consumers are more common than blue haired single ladies who recently joined the Red Hat club and play chess on Tuesdays at 4:00 pm sharp. There is a higher incidence of cola consumers. (If you contact 100 people and 10 people respond, your incidence rate is 10 percent.)

Sample Size.
Statistical significance usually takes a back burner to budget.
